Summary: Locket is a private photo and video vault. You own your content. Storing, viewing, and exporting your own photos and videos is free. Locket Pro adds extra features. Be respectful. Don't do illegal things.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Locket ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, please don't use the App.
You must be at least 17 years old to use Locket.
2. Description of Service
Locket is a private photo and video vault app for iPhone. It provides:
- Encrypted Storage: Photos and videos are encrypted on your iPhone.
- Face ID / PIN Protection: Face ID and a PIN lock your vault.
- Partner Sharing: You can link with one partner and share items you choose.
- Locket Pro features: Encrypted Backup, Break-in Report, Decoy Password, Disguised Icon, and unlimited sharing. See section 4.
3. Account & Security
Your Account
Locket does not ask for an email address or password. Your install gets a random anonymous user ID. If you delete the App without a backup, you may lose your photos.
Your Responsibilities
- Keep your PIN secure and don't share it with others
- You are responsible for all activity in your App
- Tell us if you suspect unauthorized access
Important Security Note
Locket uses strong encryption. We cannot recover your encryption keys. We don't have them. This is by design, for your privacy. If you have an encrypted backup and its recovery key, you can restore from the backup and use "Forgot your PIN?" to set a new PIN. Without either vault access or a usable backup, we cannot recover your photos.
4. Free Features and Locket Pro
What Is Free
- Unlimited photos and videos in your vault on your iPhone
- Face ID and PIN protection
- Viewing, exporting, and deleting everything you saved, including Export to Photos and Download everything
- Linking with one partner, and sharing up to 25 photos per partner link
- Screenshot alerts for shared photos
What Locket Pro Adds
- Encrypted Backup: An optional backup of your vault, up to 10 GB
- Break-in Report: One front-camera photo after three wrong PINs in a row, if you turn it on
- Decoy Password: A second PIN that opens a decoy vault
- Disguised Icon: Alternate home screen icons
- Unlimited sharing: Share more than 25 photos per partner link, and share videos with your partner
If you set up a decoy vault before Decoy Password became a Locket Pro feature, you keep it without Pro.
Restoring a backup does not need Locket Pro. Starting a backup and uploading new items require your own active Pro entitlement.
Pro Through Your Partner
While you are linked to a partner who has Locket Pro, the App unlocks Locket Pro features for you too. This ends when you unlink or when your partner's Pro ends. Starting a backup and uploading new items still require your own active Pro entitlement.
Plans and Billing
- The plans, prices, and any free trial are shown in the App before you buy. A trial is shown only if you are eligible for one.
- Subscriptions are billed through Apple's App Store, and payment is charged to your Apple ID account.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- If a free trial is offered and you don't cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, your subscription starts and you are charged.
- If a one-time purchase is offered, such as a Lifetime plan, you pay once and it does not renew.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID settings. You can restore past purchases from the Locket Pro screen.
- Deleting your Locket account does not cancel a subscription.
If Your Pro Plan Ends
Nothing you already saved is locked away. You can still view, export, and delete everything, and use Download everything. Starting Pro features, including a new backup, needs an active Pro entitlement. An enabled Decoy Password remains usable. An enabled Break-in Report continues capturing until you turn it off, and the photos you already have stay viewable. Encrypted Backup pauses new uploads and keeps your existing backup.
5. Your Content
Ownership
You retain full ownership of all photos and videos you store in Locket. We don't claim any rights to your content.
License to Us
By using Locket, you give us a limited license to store the encrypted content you choose to back up or share, and to send it to your linked partner when you share. We can't view your content, because it's encrypted with keys we don't have. We use it for nothing else.
Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for the content you store and share. You agree not to use Locket to store or share:
- Illegal content of any kind
- Content that exploits minors
- Content you don't have the right to store or share
- Content intended to harass, abuse, or harm others
6. Encrypted Backup
- Backup is optional and is off until you turn it on.
- Locket makes a 26-character recovery key on your iPhone. You must keep it safe. We can't recover a lost key. Without it, nobody can open your backup, including us.
- Anyone who has your recovery key can open your backup. Don't share it.
- Turning backup off deletes the backup from our storage. The old key stops working.
- A backup is a convenience, not a guarantee. Keep your own copies of photos you can't lose.
7. Partner Sharing
Consent
When you link with a partner, you both agree to receive items the other chooses to share. Either of you can unlink at any time. Partner sharing requires you to confirm you are 17 or older.
What Your Partner Can Do
- View the photos and videos you share with them
- Receive notifications when you share
- Receive your account record in their app, including your Pro status, subscription details, vault counts, setup answers, push token, and partner nickname. They use your Pro status to unlock features.
What Your Partner Cannot Do
- Open your personal vault
- See items you haven't explicitly shared
Locket has no button to save or export a photo your partner shared. Locket can't stop a screenshot. If you take a screenshot while you view shared photos, Locket tells your partner.
Unlinking
When either of you unlinks:
- Server access to the items shared through that link is revoked. A cached preview may still show on a phone until its app learns the link has ended.
- Our server then tries to delete those items. If that cleanup fails, some files and records can be left behind.
- This cannot be undone
8. Privacy
Your privacy is fundamental to Locket. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we handle your information.
9. Termination
By You
You can stop using Locket at any time. You can delete your account from Settings. Deleting your account removes your sign-in, user record, local vault, and encrypted backup. Some server records remain, as described in our Privacy Policy. It cannot be undone.
By Us
We may terminate or suspend your access to Locket if you:
- Violate these Terms
- Use the App for illegal purposes
- Abuse the service or other users
10. Disclaimers
Service "As Is"
Locket is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure (though we work very hard to make it so).
Backup Responsibility
You are responsible for keeping copies of important photos. If you lose your PIN, your Face ID access, or your recovery key, or if you delete your account, your photos may not be recoverable.
Encryption Limitations
While Locket uses strong encryption, no security system is perfect. We cannot guarantee absolute security against all possible threats.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- We are not liable for lost data (your photos are encrypted with keys we don't have)
- Our total liability is limited to the amount you've paid us in the past 12 months
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top. If you keep using Locket after changes are posted, you accept the new Terms.
13. General
Entire Agreement
These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Locket.
Severability
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision doesn't waive our right to do so later.
